Beceiro Strategies’ CEO and founder, José Beceiro, has worked in the cleantech and high-tech industries for 15 years. His background and areas of expertise include clean energy project development, site selection, university research collaboration, economic development strategy, and corporate business development. As a fundraiser, José has raised over 1 million dollars per year in corporate support for university programs. As an economic developer, he helped grow Austin’s cleantech industry to over 250 companies and 20,000 jobs.

José serves as the Senior Director of the Global Energy 2.0 initiative for the Greater Houston Partnership. His work in Houston focuses on transitioning its energy economy toward a sustainable energy future. José works with the Houston energy sector to recruit clean energy companies, incubate new energy technology startups, implement new carbon solution programs, and transition the energy workforce into new cleantech jobs. José previously served as the Director of Corporate Relations for Energy and Technology at the University of Texas at Austin. His role within the UT Central Development Office was to engage energy and tech companies in major interdisciplinary initiatives. He has previously held the positions of Director of Strategic Corporate Partnerships at Texas State University and Associate Director for Research Relations in the Cockrell School of Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. Earlier in his career, José spent seven years as Director of Clean Energy Economic Development for the Austin Chamber of Commerce, and was an economic development consultant for Austin-based AngelouEconomics.

Nonprofit service is an important part of José’s contribution to the thriving Central Texas region. He serves as a board member and was the past board president of the ATXelerator, an annual program designed to recruit, train, and promote future-focused candidates for municipal city government positions. José is also a founding advisory board member and past board chair of the CleanTX organization. CleanTX is an Austin regional clean energy trade organization that produces industry networking events and educational forums. He was a founding board member of Pecan Street, Inc., the nation’s most advanced smart grid research consortium, and is a recent winner of the Austin Under 40 Award for Energy, Cleantech, and Environmental Services.

José is a native Texan, born and raised in Lubbock, and has been a proud Austinite for 20 years. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics and a master’s degree in Energy and Earth Resources from the University of Texas at Austin. José has family roots in northwest Spain, where he was fortunate to spend summers as a child. Favorite pastimes include traveling, cooking, following college football and NBA basketball, and most of all enjoying time with his wife Jamie and daughter Josephine.
